Anonymous CVS Access

The most recent version of Sauron can be obtained using (anonymous) CVS. Howerver, be warned that the CVS version is the development version, and as such, is often not ready for production use.

For more information about CVS can be fround at cvshome.org.

Accessing Sauron CVS Repository:

  • It is recommended that you configure your CVS client with following settings, by adding following lines to your ~/.cvsrc file:
                    cvs -z3
                    update -d -P
                    checkout -P
                    diff -u

  • Login to the CVS server using anonymous user anoncvs and empty password:
                      cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@sauron.jyu.fi:/cvsweb login

  • Then, to check out latest version of Sauron use the following command:
                      cvs -z3 -d :pserver:anoncvs@sauron.jyu.fi:/cvsweb co -P sauron

  • Later, when you want to update your repository to the latest version, use the following command (in the repository's top level directory):
                      cvs -z3 update -d -P
